Although you will be working with the Head Gardener there is an element of independent working and supporting the Head Gardener with more skilled tasks and duties. You will be part of a team of gardeners, there is an orchard, meadow, small lake, water gardens, flower gardens, glasshouses and vegetable gardens, hedge layers, as well as Gamekeepers. The right candidate should be able to know when a flower bed needs weeding or to have the motivation to pull out the occasional weed without needing to be told. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their appearance and communicates well. We require someone who also has a healthy respect for machinery and equipment and their surroundings. Duties to include: Kitchen gardening Weeding Preparing flower beds for planting Edging Hedge work Dead heading Pruning Lifting Mowing Watering Scarifying, etc. Servicing machinery (to be taught as part of the apprenticeship) Using machinery such as mowers, rotovators and more To be involved in future garden development projects Pest and disease control Sowing and growing Picking produce Rotational weekend watering during summer months Please note that the right candidate should be keen and passionate about horticulture. The Estate Team are keen to share their knowledge and will allow you to develop into the role and take on more. Free Pa1 and First Aid cert.
