Work As an apprentice, you'll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You'll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff. What you'll do at work You will be required to attend Bicton College for block release.You will achieve a Level 2 Arborist qualification. English and maths Functional Skills, if required. The programme culminates in an End Point Assessment, in which the skills and knowledge you will gain during the apprenticeship will be formally tested. The following qualifications would also be required prior to end point assessment and these will be undertaken during the duration of the apprenticeship: Level 3 award in emergency first aid at work Level 2 award in safe use of brushwood chipper Traffic Management (NRSWA Unit 002 Signing, Lighting and Guarding) OR Sector Scheme 12D Level 2 award in chainsaw maintenance Level 2 award in crosscutting timber using a chainsaw Level 2 award in felling and processing trees up to 380mm Level 2 award in accessing a tree using a rope and harness Level 3 award in aerial tree rescue operations Level 3 award in aerial cutting of trees using free fall techniques Where you'll work Ventonwyn Grampound Road Truro TR2 4RG
Essential qualifications GCSE or equivalent in: English (grade 4/C) Maths (grade 4/C) Let the company know about other relevant qualifications and industry experience you have. They can adjust the apprenticeship to reflect what you already know. Skills Communication skills Attention to detail Organisation skills Customer care skills Problem solving skills Logical Team working Other Will need to be able to meet at the yard based at Ventonwyn to start work (which is not on a bus route) and prepared to be able to occasionally work out of the county. Candidates will need to be comfortable working at heights and able to work outdoors in all weathers Own transport would be advantageous.
