Welcome to Laycock Primary School! Situated in the Yorkshire countryside above Keighley, we are spoilt by our setting which is within a stone's throw of Haworth, the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway, Cliffe Castle and the first public Carnegie Library in England! Step inside our school and you will see why Laycock is such a special school. We are a small half-form entry school catering for children aged between four and eleven years of age. Children are taught in four mixed-aged classes with the exception of Reception, where we keep them in a pure year group of just fifteen children. The original school building dates back to 1891, with additions in 2001, alterations in 2012 and a refurbishment completed in 2017, providing our pupils with a learning environment which is both modern yet has great charm and character. The school is set in large secure grounds. Our children enjoy a fantastic play area complete with climbing frame, trim trail, woodland area and playing fields. An additional garden area and pond to the front of the school provide even more opportunities for outdoor learning experiences. Our children are at the heart of everything we do and we pride ourselves on the personalised provision we achieve for each of them. Our friendly and dedicated staff works exceptionally hard to ensure each child receives the happiest and best education we can possibly provide and, being so small, we all know each other really well. €˜Pupil Voice' is strong at Laycock Primary School, with the School Council taking a lead role in improvements across school. Parents and carers and their families are encouraged to engage with school and their child's learning via regular Parent's Evenings, half-termly assemblies and weekly coffee mornings. €˜Friends of Laycock' is our parent group who work tirelessly to raise funds to support activities for our children. Supported by our Governing Body we truly are a dedicated team, working together to achieve the very best for all our children. We hold Investors in Pupils, Investors in Families and the National Nurturing Schools Awards. As a school we are proud of all our achievements yet at the same time we are not complacent and constantly strive to improve in everything we do. Laycock Primary School offers a stimulating, fun yet purposeful learning environment in which all children are valued and encouraged to unlock their potential. Laycock Primary School is a founding-member school of The Pennine Academies Yorkshire Multi Academy Trust, which was formed in May 2018. We work closely with our family of schools, where we consider our diversity to be one of our strengths; an opportunity to learn about one another through our differences and to shape generations to come to accept everyone.
