Studland Trekking Centre is situated in the picturesque village of Studland on the Dorset coast, 10 minutes from Swanage and 30 mins from Bournemouth via the Sandbanks chain ferry. With 3 miles of sandy beaches and dunes, clifftop horse rides along National Heritage sites and 3000 acres of forest and heathland, we are lucky enough to offer some of the most stunning riding in the UK. We have rides suited to all abilities, from complete beginner to experienced riders with some of the best routes to ride along including beach and coastal rides, forest rides and trekking across the heathlands. We also offer a full livery service where horses are cared for by a team of wonderful and highly skilled staff of which you could be part of!As an apprentice you will be given full support and training from all of our lovely staff who will help you achieve your qualification. If you love working outdoors with horses then this is the perfect job for you. We are a small yard but can get busy particularly in the warmer months when more people want to ride out in the beautiful surroundings so you should be organised and able to complete tasks in a timely manner to ensure each day runs smoothly and rides and treks can start on time. Usual yard jobs are included with the position, eg; Tacking up Mucking out Turning out/ bringing in Feeding & watering The role is ideally suited to someone who can ride and is confident riding out in the open. The training you will be getting You will be working towards the Level 2 Equine Groom apprenticeship, and all training is completed at the employers premises, with the employer and supported by Haddon Training. You will also be supported in completing Functional Skills in maths and English if not already achieved. What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship There is a possibility of a full time job on completion of the Level 2 apprenticeship or further development onto a L3 Senior Equine Groom apprenticeship programme.
