To assist teaching staff in the development and implementation of programmes of work and in the provision of a stable, caring, and supportive learning environment, which enables pupils to achieve their full learning potential and facilitates their social and emotional development.

Training and Qualification

Work As an apprentice, you'll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You'll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff. Please consider how you will travel to the place of work, particularly if you rely on public transport. The post holder is expected to work both within and outside of the Centres, often dealing with students who are not easily engaged with. Substantial physical effort is sometimes required and there is a possible physical risk in dealing with aggressive behaviour. You may be asked to support outdoor education. As South Somerset Partnership School is an all through school, students are educated up to the end of Year 11 (16 years old) but occasionally up to Year 12 depending on their needs. For this reason, any apprentice must be at least 18 to create an age differentiation and to garner student respect.

South Somerset Partnership School is responsible for the education of pupils under Section 19: Permanently Excluded; those currently unable to attend school for medical reasons and vulnerable pupils moving into South Somerset. All pupils have Social, Emotional or Mental Health Needs (SEMH). SSPS also supports mainstream partner schools providing in-reach and outreach support for pupils at risk of exclusion. The school is a maintained provision of Somerset Council.
