The MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Apprentice to join their Mechanical Workshop. We will oversee your development and training using hand tools, manual machining, CNC machining and design software as you learn to make bespoke scientific equipment from design phase through to finished product.
Work As an apprentice, you'll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You'll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff. What you'll do at work You will undertake the Level 3 Machining Technician apprenticeship standard which will include: Practical skills including hand fitting, turning and machining On-the-job competency training Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence) Level 2 Diploma in Machining (Foundation Knowledge) Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence) - Machining Level 3 Diploma in Machining (Development Knowledge) Training will primarily be delivered and assessed in the workplace. However, attendance at West Suffolk College either in Bury St Edmunds or Chatteris (North Cambridgeshire Training Centre) on a day release basis will be required. Essential qualifications GCSE or equivalent in: English (grade 4) Maths (grade 5) Science (grade 4) Let the company know about other relevant qualifications and industry experience you have.
