IIT Bombay Placements 2024 - Mixed Results Amidst Economic Challenges

This 7.7% increase indicates that top-tier companies continue to value IIT Bombay graduates highly. Moreover, 22 students received offers exceeding Rs 1 crore per annum, showcasing the institute's ability to produce highly sought-after talent.  

However, it's important to note that while high-value offers have increased, there has been a concerning trend at the lower end of the spectrum. The lowest annual package offered this year dropped to Rs 4 lakh, down from Rs 6 lakh in the previous year. The Engineering and Technology sector emerged as the top recruiter, selecting 430 students across 106 core engineering companies. This was followed closely by the Information Technology and Software sector, which hired 307 students from over 84 companies.  

Other significant sectors included:  

• Consulting: 117 offers from 29 companies 

• Finance: 113 offers from 33 firms 

• Research & Development: 97 positions from 36 organisations  

Emerging fields such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Product Management, 5G, Data Science, and Analytics also saw brisk hiring trends, reflecting the evolving needs of the industry.  

International Placements and Global Economic Impact  

Despite ongoing global economic challenges and geopolitical tensions, IIT Bombay saw an increase in international placements. A total of 78 international offers were accepted by students, up from 65 in the previous year. These offers came from companies based in Japan, Taiwan, Europe, UAE, Singapore, USA, Netherlands, and Hong Kong.  

However, the institute noted that the number of international recruiters was fewer compared to previous years, attributing this to the "war in Ukraine and the subdued global economy."
