UC Berkeley has announced a new programme that lets the students earn up to 15 credits of classes each term. The courses cover pre-requisites from majors across various subject areas and it allows admission to home institution.

Example classes as specified by UC Berkeley include:

  • Reading and Composition
  • Calculus
  • Introduction to Statistics
  • Critical Issues in Global Studies
  • Introduction to Biological Anthropology
  • Introduction to Human Physiology
  • U.S. History
  • Introduction to Comparative Politics

Upon completion, students earn a transcript from UC Berkeley Extension, the administrative department of Berkeley Global.

  • Small, live online classes of only 15 to 45 students (as opposed to large lectures of 300 to 1,000 classmates)

COURSE DETAILS:

FEES: $20,000 (USD) per semester for all the Courses, Student advising, Personal academic advising, Orientation and Student development workshop series.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be a recent high school graduate with a GPA of 3.0
  • English language proficiency - Option#1: TOEFL: 90, IELTS Academic Format: 7, DAAD: C, Cambridge C1 Advanced, TEM-4 or TEM-8: 70 (within the past 2 years)
  • English language proficiency - Option#2: TOEFL: 79-89, IELTS Academic Format: 6.5, TOEIC: 700 or above, ELS Level 112 with an ELS GPA of 3.0 OR
    must have passed an interview with a UC Berkeley Extension recruiter.

Alternatively, student can request a waiver if:

  • They have completed one year of full-time academic instruction entirely in the English language.
  • They have successfully completed an academic program in a country where English is the official language.
  • They are from a country on the exempt list.
