The Malaysian
Education Ministry's efforts to restructure the academic session back to the
pre-Covid-19 period by 2026 will not affect this year's curriculum, with the
number of school days remaining at 190, stated the Education Director-General
during his visit to welcome students back to school in Johor.

Overseas Care Workers from Bringing Dependants on Work Visas
The UK
government has implemented a major change in its immigration policy,
prohibiting international health and care workers from bringing their dependents
into the country on work visas. This decision, effective this week, aims to
address the influx of 120,000 dependants who accompanied 100,000 workers on the
care visa route last year. Additionally, the minimum income requirement for
these workers has been raised to £38,700.
PHFI Ranks
Second in Global Ranking of Public Health Schools
In the first
global rankings for schools of public health, the Public Health Foundation of
India (PHFI) secured an impressive second place, surpassing prestigious
institutions like Harvard. The rankings, published in the International Journal
of Public Health, evaluated research productivity, quality, accessibility, and
international collaboration between 2017-2021, with PHFI's performance in
research quality being particularly noteworthy.

Strengthens Global Partnerships with MoUs for Student& Scholar Exchanges
Indian
Institute of Technology Guwahati has signed four MoUs with renowned
international institutions, including Dalhousie University (Canada) and Gifu
University (Japan), to establish joint doctoral programmes, facilitate
student/scholar exchanges, promote collaborative research, and provide diverse
learning opportunities over the next 5 years, fostering cross-cultural growth.

University Launches New MBA International Programme for 2024-2025
Ben-Gurion
University of the Negev (BGU) in Israel has introduced a new one-year MBA
International programme for the 2024-2025 session, taught in English. The
programme focuses on innovation, entrepreneurship, and social enterprise.
Applications are open until October 15, with requirements including an
undergraduate degree, minimum GPA/test scores, and an interview process. The
tuition fee is approximately USD 10,600.

Partners with Oxford International to Boost International Student Recruitment
Birkbeck,
University of London, has announced a partnership with Oxford International
Education Group (OIEG) to enhance its international student intake. Through
this collaboration, OIEG will provide services such as student recruitment,
compliance, admissions, and support for Birkbeck's postgraduate courses like
MSc International Business and LLM Law General.

Eases Employment Rules for International Students to Address Labour Shortages
As of March 1,
2024, over 450,000 international students in Germany have gained access to a
simpler employment process through a new law aimed at addressing labour
shortages. The law expands work opportunities, allowing students to work up to
20 hours per week or 140 full days per year.

New Cap
British
Columbia has announced that it has been granted an allocation of 83,000
undergraduate study permit applications by Immigration, Refugees, and
Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for the next year, following Canada's decision to
impose a cap on new international study permits to stabilise numbers and
address concerns.
