A ground-breaking announcement by the Indian High Commission in London stated the opening of a visa application process for U.K. graduates looking to live and work in India. The initiative is part of a reciprocal scheme where British and Indian nationals aged between 18 and 30 can apply under the new Young Professionals Scheme (YPS). They can stay in the respective countries for up to two years under the scheme.

ELIGIBILITY FOR UK NATIONALS TO APPLY FOR YPS

  • Age between 18 and 30 can apply
  • Having a valid passport with a minimum of six-month validity
  • Having a graduation degree
  • Proof of finances to support themselves during their stay in India
  • Should not have previously visited India as a part of YPS
  • Should not have a minor child

APPLICATION PROCESS FOR YPS

Professionals planning to travel to India under the YPS must apply for the E1-visa with a duly filled application form through the High Commission of India. They also need to submit the necessary documents for verification and an application fee of £ 720. Young professionals get multiple visas for 24 months after the approval of their application under the YPS. They can explore the diverse culture of India and seek employment opportunities in different sectors to understand the work-life ethos in the country.

Likewise, young professionals from India can explore similar opportunities in the U.K. as a part of the bilateral scheme.
