Like any other exam, students planning to appear for JEE Advanced 2023 must meet specific eligibility criteria given by the exam conducting authority. These include-

• The top 2.5 lakhs JEE Main candidatesare eligible to take the exam. The categories include ST (7.5%), GEN-EWS (10%),SC (15%),OBC-NCL (27%),and OPEN seats (40.5%). Further, PwD candidates get an additional 5% horizontal reservation.
• The age limit applies to candidates born on or after October 1, 1998. SC, ST, and PwD candidates get an agerelaxation of 5 years.
• A candidate can attempt the exam a maximum oftwice in two consecutive years.
• They should not have been admitted to IIT, regardless of whether they continued with the enrolled program.

JEE Advanced is the sole entrance exam leading to IIT admissions in various bachelor\'s and master’s level degrees. It is the second level after JEE Main candidates need to qualify to be a part of the prestigious institutions. Here are the courses one can pursue after clearing the exam.

• B.S. and M.S. dual degree

Exam Pattern

JEE Advanced examination is conducted only in the Computer Based Test (CBT) mode in English and Hindi. Here are the other key details regarding the exam pattern-

• JEE (Advanced) will have two papers, each being compulsory. Both Paper 1 and Paper 2 will last forthree hours.
• Each question paper comprises three sections, Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.

• The marking scheme for the exam changes every year and negative marks may be given for incorrect answers to some questions. Students must check the details in the “Instructions to Candidates” section before attempting the paper.
• JEE Advanced 2023 will have 2 shifts, with the Paper 1 exam to be held from 9 am to 12 noon. and the Paper 2 exam to be held from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm. All students have to appear for both papers to qualify for a seat in one of the seven IITs.

Application fees

Here are the details of fees payable by different categories-

• SC/ST and female candidates- INR 1,450
• Other categories: INR 2,900
• Candidates from SAARC countries: USD 90
• Candidates from Non- SAARC countries: USD 180

Important Dates

JEE Advanced 2023 is scheduled on June 4, 2023, and registration for the exam will start on April 30. The top 2,50,000 candidates qualifying in JEE Main 2023 can compete in the next stage. The candidates can select their preferred exam centresat this stage and will be allotted one of the provided choices. Here are the details of important dates for JEE Advanced 2023-

International Students

Foreign students can seek admission to IITs through JEE Advanced directly without clearing the JEE Main exam. The seats allotted to them are additional sets, but there is a cap of 10% of the total seats in every course. The eligibility criteria include-

• Appearance in the class 12 examination in 2022 or 2023 with Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry as compulsory subjects
• Born on or after October 1, 1998
• Maximum two JEE (Advanced) attempts in consecutive years
• No past record of admission at IITs

Eligibility streams courses

IIT JEE aspirants must have cleared class 12 board exams in 2022 or 2023 from a recognised board. 

The minimum score for general candidates is 75 percent, and for reserved categories, it is 65 percent. 

The mandatory subjects include Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.

Registration Procedure

The conducting authority for JEE Advanced exam releases its application form soon after the declaration of results of JEE Main. Students have to register on the official website, 

fill out the application form, and

submit it online along with the application fees. 

Since candidates do not have the form correction option, they must verify and fill in the correct details.
