ABOUT National Institute of Fashion Technology Srinagar

NIFT is the pioneering institute of fashion education in the country and has been in the vanguard of providing professional human resource to the textile and apparel industry. It was made a statutory institute in 2006 by an Act of the Indian Parliament with the President of India as its ‘Visitor’. The inception of  NIFT Srinagar started in 2016 from temporary  campus at Rangreth, Srinagar by offering  UG Programmes (B.Des in Fashion Design and Fashion Communication). Two additional programmes (B.Des Accessory Design) and MFM were launched in July, 2022. Subsequently in August 2022, Permenant Campus in NIFT Srinagar with state of the art facilities has come up at Ompora Budgam on an area of 16.5 acres that houses  Academic Block, Administrative Block, Auditorium, Residential quarters, Amphitheater, Sport Fields, Gymnasium, Canteen etc. Apart from padagogy, NIFT Srinagar is providing consultancy services to J&K Government for designing and packaging of handicrafts & handlooms.
