ABOUT University of Amsterdam
The University of Amsterdam has a long history. Derived from the Athenaeum Illustrious (1632) is the UvA with over 30,000 students, 5,000 employees and a budget of over 600 million euros to the major comprehensive universities in Europe. The UvA has seven faculties where teaching and research are conducted in the field of the humanities, social sciences, economics and business, law, science, medicine and dentistry. Annually approximately 7,500 scientific publications UvA staff. Basic research in many areas belongs to the international elite. The diverse application-oriented research programs are partly multidisciplinary in nature and focused on social issues. The UvA is a critical, independent, creative, innovative and international environment, with an open atmosphere and a strong commitment to Amsterdam and society. The UvA offers academic education in all fields of science and is open to all students and employees - regardless of origin, background or belief - with full use of their own talents to work on the development and transfer of scientific knowledge as a source of cultural wealth and as a basis for sustainable progress.
