ABOUT University of Fribourg
The first roots of the University of Freiburg to go back to 1582, founded St. Michael's College. The next crucial step was the establishment of a Law Academy in Freiburg in 1763. On 4 October 1889, the University of Freiburg was founded by decision of the Parliament of the Canton of Fribourg, the first university in the Catholic canton of Switzerland. The driving force behind this creation was the then State Georges Python. The university was established in 1889 with the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Arts, in 1890 and 1896 came the Theological Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences do so. In 1953 a Department of Economics Faculty of Law was established in 1988 which is the Economic and Social Sciences.
